(24 Hours - 3 Days) Each student will receive hands on instruction of how to apply the techniques taught to them through live fire drills on the range. Basic shooting techniques will be recapped and more advanced techniques will be introduced to the students as they progress through the course. Although we will spend the majority of time on the range practicing shooting skills, we will also focus on developing a fighting mind set, and how to apply it to range practice time.
OBJECTIVES:
SHOOTING FUNDAMENTALS: This is the main goal of the course and I will spend the majority of the time in this area to give the student a sound foundation to build from.
- Fundamentals of shooting both single and double action handguns, grip, trigger control, sight picture, follow through, etc.
- Handgun marksmanship skills for both stationary and moving targets.
- Surgical shooting while moving.
- Advanced Immediate Action drills
- Target threat identification drills
- Tactical and speed reloading drills, when and how to do each
- Advanced firearms retention drills
- Action vs. reaction drills. (This drill provides the students with a first hand look at what THEIR reactionary gap is, and how human nature affects it through live fire drills.)
- Mental conditioning while shooting in both the Subconscious and Conscious State of Mind. The importance of understanding the difference between them and when to apply each.
- Students will also learn how to monitor their personal shooting techniques while on the range and how to identify problem areas.
- Each student will receive handouts with specific shooting drills that are designed to improve their speed and accuracy during personal range time.
HUMAN NATURE: Each student will be taught about human nature, how to control it, and use it to gain the advantage over their opponent. During any survival situation you will be faced with two very deadly enemies, Personal Comfort and a Passive Outlook or I Don't Care Attitude. The students will be taught how to recognize these and control them during high stress situations.
TACTICAL SURVIVAL RULES: Students will be taught tactical survival rules that will aid them in developing a tactical mind set, which in turn will enable them to avoid or deal with a lethal confrontation.
GUN TAKE AWAY TECHNIQUES: During this block of instruction, the student will be taught the importance of Action vs. Reaction. While there are numerous gun take away techniques, C.R.T.C. has developed techniques based on the K.I.S.S. (Keep It Simple Stupid) principle that the student can learn and maintain in a very short time period. These techniques will allow the student to take the firearm away regardless of where the perpetrator is located, or which hand the firearm is being held in.
