SELF DEFENSE HANDGUN LEVEL III

Over 70% of this 4 day (40 hour) advanced course will be instructed in darkness. It is designed to refine the techniques that were learned in the Level II class and go beyond. Additionally, students will be taught new techniques that will allow them to be more successful when faced with multiple attackers in low light conditions. Students will be placed in multiple scenarios that are designed to create realistic, high stress situations, where they will be forced to make split second decisions to resolve the problem with the least amount of force necessary.

In this course you will learn:

Deadly Force Guidelines - This area will cover the legalities of using a firearm for Self Defense and how the "Continuum of Force" is applied for dealing with a threat. You will receive instruction on when Deadly Force is justified and the events that must take place to rationalize the use of it.

Mental Conditioning - Whether you are in a gunfight or being held hostage, this training will instill upon you the proper mind set that you will need to survive. This training will be done by demonstrating and having the student perform in practical exercises where they will learn how to develop a fighting mindset. Additionally, the students will learn how to avoid tunnel vision when dealing with multiple threats.

Weapons Retention - This instruction will provide the student with proven techniques for controlling their firearm while in the holster or in the mounted position. The students will learn how, if needed, they may use their personal sidearm as an intermediate weapon. Additionally, each student's personal reactionary time will be identified and applied to develop their personal reactionary gap. This information will then be incorporated into practical applications.

Firearms Training - This training will cover the importance of mental conditioning while shooting in both the subconscious and conscious state of mind. The importance of understanding the difference between them and when to apply each in relations to combat shooting, target selection, and shooting fundamentals through hands on training. Additional areas that will be covered are: Flashlight Shooting, Low Light Shooting, Surgical Shooting techniques while moving, Advanced Immediate Action Drills, Target Threat Identification Drills, and Tactical and Speed Reloading Drills.

Tactical Clearing Techniques - Tactical clearing techniques will be taught in both the classroom and field environment. Each student will be instructed in proven methods to move safely from one point to another. These will be tested through live fire drills. Students will also learn how to use stealth or dynamics to clear corners, hallways, stairs, and rooms while using appropriate cover and concealment.

Practical Exercise - Through the use of training ammunition each student will be able to test their skills to determine their training weaknesses and strengths. This training will provide the student with a real world look at the techniques they have learned by pre-staging simulated confrontations in a variety of situations through the use of specialized training firearms and ammunition.
